Pros en cons

There is a plan to make a mountain in the Netherlands. Why? Is the first question I asked myself. The people who make the plan says it’s a big sport and recreation paradise. Do they think about the people who had to move, and all the nature and animals who will die. The want to build it in the polder but there are many animal species who will die.

I think it will be great opportunity for the sport industry in the Netherlands. Certainly when you think about the Olympic games in 2028 and other big sport events. Holland is a small country and maybe to small? I think that some people want to make the Netherlands bigger then it can be.

We are good at some sports but don’t forget we only have 16 million people. I don’t think Dutch sporters will ever reach the top with skiing.

Who’s going to paid for the mountain? That will be the residents of the Netherlands. How many off them will use the mountain when it’s finished?  And when is it finished? Right now we are trying to get out off the economic crises. I think we first have to try get out the economic crises and then look what we can do with such projects.

In short there are many questions.

What should the mountain look like?

Hey what do you guys think the mountain should look like?

Do you want it to look like an ordinary typical mountain with allot of trees, rocks, grass, rivers, cows etc?

Or should it more look like an futuristic mountain/building where you can see, things like big windows, shopping malls or maybe even houses on the outside of the mountain?

Im curious to hear from you guys.

Dutch Moutain!

The start to build a moutain in The Flevopolder(Netherlands).

The plan to build a two-kilometre high moutain in the Netherlands started with a column of old Dutch moutainbiker Thijs Zonneveld. Within no time there were a lot of ingenieurs, architects and investigators who gave some reaction on his column. After a while there were more than fity people who want to brainstorm about the project. At the moment it is an official topic to realize the mountain in the future.

My opinion

I think to realize a moutain of 2 kilometres in the Netherlands is a positive impulse for the sporters in our country. The moutain gives a lot op possibilities in the future to invest in new sports and create some hollow mountain you never see in the World. So I am in favour of building the mountain in the Flevopolder.

The Dutch Mountain

When I first heard about the Dutch Mountain I immediately thought about which amazing sports possibilities and facilities can be built on the flanks of this Dutch Mountain.

Things like a real Dutch Mountain cyclingclassic, skiing and snowboarding outdoors just in our own country, real outdoor mountainclimbing or wildwaterrafting.

Al those things that you can also do on an regular 2000 meter Mountain in the alps.

But when I took a look at the webpage, diebergkomter.nl, I realized which other great possibilities there are when the mountain will be built.

You can built a hollow mountain. So you can also use all the space within the mountain for all kind of things. You should think about a shopping mall, restaurant or even houses.

In the movie below you can see some examples of the kind of amazing possibilities I didnt thougt about when I heard about the idea for the first time.
